The Plaza Green Room Appeal
The Plaza was built as a cinema around 1931 and originally comprised a balcony and stalls with a seating capacity of approximately 400. When RAODS acquired the premises in 1982, substantial internal works were undertaken to lift the auditorium and stage by around eight feet creating a single rake of seating and winning back the space formerly in the stalls. The dressing rooms now occupy part of this space and the remainder is given to the Green Room where refreshments can be taken during some shows. The Green Room is an important multi-function space which serves as a rehearsal room, music room, dance studio, overflow dressing room, meeting room, coffee lounge and even a polling station! RAODS are undertaking a substantial project to refurbish the Green Room and adjoining kitchen so the experience of the theatre-goer and performer alike will be considerably enhanced. Facilities under consideration include decor, lighting, sound, audio-visual capability, air-conditioning and ventilation, new flooring and furniture.
'Plaza Live' was kindly sponsored by Hampshire Brewery
A selection of Hampshire Brewery beers is usually on sale in the Plaza Bar.
