| | Everyone loves the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales and the delightful story of 'The Ugly Duckling' has been adapted by Stiles and Drewe into a superb musical comedy for all the family to enjoy.
Ugly seems to be different from his father 'Drake' and his brothers and sisters, and is only loved by his mother 'Ida'. He is lured away from the farm by the evil 'Cat' who wants him for his dinner. Our little hero embarks on an eventful journey, meeting an assortment of animals as he tries to stay out of the clutches of 'Cat' and finally, as in all the best fairy tales, he is reunited with his mother and even more importantly discovers he is not actually a duckling but a beautiful swan.
Though not strictly a pantomime, all the elements of a popular family show are there - music, laughter, goodies and baddies, excitement and a happy ending. | |
