Blue Remembered Hills

RAODS presents

Blue Remembered Hills

By Dennis Potter

On an idyllic summer’s day in 1943, a group of seven-year-olds play in the West Country hills. The children (all played by adults) play games, fight, fantasize, tease and indulge in horseplay. Sometimes their actions echo the distant war, at other times their aggressions, fears, hostilities and rivalries are a microcosm of adult interaction. Easy-going Willie tags along as burly Peter swaggers and blusters. Plain Audrey is overshadowed by Angela’s prettiness and changes alliances to gain advantage. All of them tease Donald Duck – their innocence is put to the test.

Be My Baby

RAODS presents

Be My Baby

By Amanda Whittington

A true story of a mother’s reunion with her adopted grown-up child inspired Amanda Whittington to write this intensely touching play. Set in the 1960’s when unmarried pregnancy was unsympathetically greeted by family and society alike, Be My Baby follows the fortunes of teenager Mary Adams, pregnant, unmarried, wanting to keep her child but having to face the fact that her baby is destined for adoption. The play’s unusual format incorporates music of the period, notably The Ronettes.

Performances: 7 - 11 September 2010, nightly 7.30pm

A Green Room Studio Production

Ticket prices: £7.50
